LANSING, Mich., Nov. 3 -- Gov. Rick Snyder issued the following press release:
Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Michael Chrissos and the re-appointment of Gregory Forzley to the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission.
The commission's goal is to facilitate and promote the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of an interoperable health care information infrastructure in Michigan. It consists of 13 members who represent consumers and various professions in the health care industry.
'Advances in health technology offer critical opportunities to connect individuals, government and the private sector,' Snyder said. 'I am confident the background and expertise of these individuals will help ensure Michigan harnesses this technology to increase quality of health care, promote wellness and reduce health care costs.'
Chrissos, of Ann Arbor, is a partner at Ann Arbor Bone and Joint Surgery, site director for the University of Michigan Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and director of Orthopaedic Trauma Service at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Michigan Orthopaedic Society and Michigan State Medical Society. Chrissos earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Ohio State University and a medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He represents the general public and replaces Robin Maria Cole.
Forzley, of Grand Rapids, is the chief medical information officer at Saint Mary's Health Care and medical director for Advantage Health Physicians Network. He serves as district director for the Michigan State Medical Society, member of the Michigan Health Connect and co-chair of the Alliance for Health Planning Board. He previously served as chair of the Michigan Center for Effective IT Adoption. Forzely earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Michigan, a medical degree from Wayne State University and a graduate certificate in biomedical informatics from Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Medicine. He represents doctors of medicine.
